Eye Tests for Plaquenil & Medications with Ocular Side Effects
If you are taking a medication that is deemed as “Higher Risk for Ocular Side Effects,” your rheumatologist or specialist doctor may require you to have an eye examination with an optometrist.
Some of the medications with ocular side effects include:
- Hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil)
- Ethambutol
- Corticosteroids (Prednisone)
- Isoteretinoin (Roaccutane)
- Tamoxifen
- Topimarate (Topamax)
We perform eye examinations with visual fields and OCT retina scans to monitor for changes related to your medications. We offer these services and communicate all findings to the doctors who manage you.
