At Westmead Eyes Optometrists we are equipped to handle ocular emergencies, and triage and refer emergencies to Westmead Public Hospital Eye Clinic as necessary.

Existing patients at Westmead Eyes have direct access to our communications after-hours to ensure your continuity of care. We always have time to see you urgently, even if our appointments are full.
Foreign Body Removal
We have a complete kit to remove foreign bodies or objects in the eye, and our optometrists are trained to do so.
We treat various ocular emergencies including:
- Painful, red eye(s)
- Injury to your eye(s)
- Loss or reduction of vision
- Sudden increase in light sensitivity
- Flashes of light
- A dramatic increase in floaters
- A dark curtain/veil over your field of vision
